Best.Date.Ever.

My husband is so romantic.  We do not get to spend a lot of time by ourselves, so for us to have a date is a BIG DEAL!  If he plans it, it is an EVEN BIGGER DEAL!  And if he arranges child care, it is the BIGGEST DEAL! (Thank the Lord for my parents, who are the best babysitters in the world!!!)

For our anniversary, he surprised me with tickets to the Hippodrome.  He even called my mom himself and asked her to watch the kids.

Neither one of us had ever been to the Hipp before, so it was such a nice surprise.

We got all gussied up for our big night on the town.  (Don’t you love the old school prom pose?)

Anniversary date 003

We started our night by going to dinner.  He asked me where I wanted to go, and that was a no-brainer.  In sticking with typical Vaughn fashion, our romantic anniversary dinner took place at none other than Texas Roadhouse.  It’s my favorite, y’all!!!  And what romantic anniversary dinner is complete without this…

Anniversary date 004Yep, that’s right!  Lucky for us, it was kids night, so we had the  privilege of having the armadillo come to our table.  Now there’s an anniversary moment we’ll never forget:)

We were running a little late after dinner (imagine that), but we made it to the theater on time.  I was so excited to see our show…

Anniversary date 005Can I just say, this show was amazing!  It was a musical with tons of oldies music.  Both Rob and I really enjoyed it.  I have to say, it was the BEST.DATE.EVER!  The time we spent together was much needed.  We were like two teenagers reconnecting on our first date, although this was even better.  It’s amazing how you are reminded why you love someone so much when you get to spend some quality time with them.

Isn’t that how it should be with our relationship with Jesus?  Spending quality time with the Savior has been something I have been struggling with lately. I don’t know why.  But after spending the evening with Rob last night, and realizing how wonderful the time was, it reminded me that it’s exactly what God wants from us…quality time.  In our married life, we get so caught up with children, extracurricular activities, jobs, bills and all of the other stuff, and we forget to take time for our loved ones.  What is keeping you from spending quality time with Him? He certainly wants to spend it with you.  It could be the Best.Date.Ever!

Happy Anniversary! I am so happy for the two of you. As always your words are great inspirational words and I am so greatful that share them with us.

P.S. You need to write a book. I'm sure I've told you this before but the way you write is amazing. Sometimes I check everyday to see what new experience you are sharing with us and from it reminding us how that experience could and should also be shared with God!
